The Clarke Foley centre is a community hub for the famous spa town of Ilkley. It boasts a range of facilities that make it perfect for clubs, groups and societies to put on events that educate and entertain, bringing together people of all ages and from all backgrounds.

I was asked to spend some time exploring the venue, meeting the staff and volunteers, and documenting the day-to-day activities that are available to the community. The idea was to capture some images that they could use on their website, in their marketing and on their social media to showcase the Clarke Foley centre as a welcoming venue for all in Ilkley to use, host events and sessions on a variety of topics, as well as to show off the facilities it has to offer too.

And, whilst I was there, it would have been rude to have turned down coffee and cake!

Clarke Foley Facilities

There are a number of different halls, rooms and spaces available for hire and a bustling calendar of activities aimed at all sections of society in Ilkley. From art shows to antique fairs, orchestral performances to Ed Sheeran impersonators, the centre is used to its fullest.

There are pop-up banks for customers who can't get to their nearest branch and sessions to help you stay safe in a digital world. The Clarke Foley centre also offers a cafe Monday to Saturday, 10am til 4pm to allow residents and visitors to the town to pop in for a chat, to refuel in between shops or to provide the energy you need to head up the moor to White Wells or the Cow and Calf rocks.

There's a full menu of tempting treats. The only problem was that, seeing as I was busy taking photographs, I couldn't help with the washing up. Such a shame.

Whilst I was there, a large crowd assembled for an orchestra performance, which shows the potential there is at the venue for events both big and small.

Ilkley Pride

Later on, the centre hosted the launch party for Ilkley Pride 2023. Bedecked in rainbows, the Clarke Foley centre provided the perfect location for the Ilkley Pride and Diversity Group to kick off preparations for the second Ilkley Pride, with an evening of entertainment.

Staff and Volunteers

And it is all made possible by the brilliant staff and volunteers at the centre, who were a joy to photograph too.
